FILE INFO
CaptionAfter the death of Kamsa, Kalyavana, the King of Magadha, attacked the city of Mathura and surrounded the city with his soldiers. The Lord refrained from killing them personally, just to show the power of His own men. Lord Krishna seemingly fled from the city. Kalyavana ran after Krishna, wanting to fight Him, but Krishna always stayed just out of reach. Krishna led him into a dark mountain cave, where Muchukunda lay sleeping. Seeing Muchukunda lying there, Kalyavana thought it was Krishna and he kicked him with all his strength. When Muchukunda awoke his eyes fell on Kalyavana, and he immediately burned Kalyavana to ashes with his gaze. This was due to the benediction he had previously received that he could sleep undisturbed and whoever awakened him would suddenly be burnt to ashes. Actually Krishna arranged this because he wanted to kill the demon through the agency of His devotee, just to show the prowess of His devotees.
