FILE INFO
CaptionIn the Srimad Bhagavatam, material existence is compared to a forest. Sometimes, just like a mercantile man trying to find some cheap commodities to sell at a profit, the conditioned soul enters the material world and is greedy for material profit. Thus he enters the deepest part of the forest, not knowing how to get out. Thus life becomes simply a struggle for existence. The uncontrolled senses are compared to rogues and thieves within the forest who take away a man's knowledge. One becomes obliged to the plundering senses and wastes all his money on things for tasting, touching, smelling, seeing and hearing. The family members are compared to ferocious animals in the forest, because they also take away one's hard earned money by force.
Everyone in the forest of this material world is placed in many awkward positions and surrounded by envious people and disturbing animals. It is like he is always being bitten by mosquitoes and disturbed by locusts and rats, and yet he still does not try to get out.
