FILE INFO | Caption | One day the young girls Devayani, Sharmistha and thousands of friends were walking in the palace garden. Seeing the reservoir of water, they decided to bathe there. They left their clothing on the bank and enjoyed sporting in the water. Suddenly they saw Lord Shiva, seated on his bull with his wife Parvati, passing by. Ashamed because they were naked, they all quickly got out of the water and put on their clothes. Sharmistha unknowingly put on Devayani's dress. Angrily, Devayani said, "Oh just see the activities of this servant-maid Sharmistha! Disregarding all etiquette, she has put on my dress, just like a dog snatching clarified butter meant for use in a sacrifice." -Excerpt from Srimad Bhagavatam 9.18.11
