Demons like his father, Hiranyakashipu, consider Lord Vishnu and His devotees to be the enemy. When Hiranyakashipu understood that Prahlada would not give up the worship of Lord Vishnu, Hiranyakashipu told the rakshashas (his demon servants) that Prahlad must be killed, by all means. The rakshashas began striking Prahlada with tridents and shouting,"Chop him up! Pierce him!"
